French Curves: SUÈDE

Bonjour !!! It’s the 16th of the month again, which means it’s time for the French Curves Challenge – an outfit photo challenge with the French touch, created by the beautiful, Vanoue, of The Curvy and Curly Closet

If you don’t speak French, fear not, my dears! As always, an English translation will follow, just scroll on down!!!

Il est encore le 16 du mois !!! Temps pour un nouveau French Curves Challenge – la collaboration entre les blogueuses francophones de taille plus, crée par la belle, Vanoue, de The Curvy and Curly Closet

And now for the English version!

The theme this month: SUEDE

With the 70s trend back in full force, suede is everywhere in fashion right now!

Rich in texture, it brings a chic and luxurious element to your wardrobe; and even if we tend to associate it with the 70s, when mixed with more modern pieces, suede can integrate easily into any outfit.

For the challenge, I chose two different pieces — this pretty faux-suede jacket (ok yes, I’m cheating, but shhhhh!) from Penningtons, and these cute, thrifted little yellow suede loafers from Figure First, which are second hand, but in perfect shape.

Together, with an ultra modern combo of this striped dress from Addition Elle, and my fave pair of jeans…

Accessories that contrast, like this thick chain necklace from Ready To Stare, and my classic Louis Vuitton bag

These suede pieces leave the 70s behind in exchange for a contemporary and super charming look!

Be sure to check out the fab suede looks from all the other French Curvettes here, as well as on Facebook, and Instagram too!!! And remember to use the hashtags #FrenchCurvesOOTD and #FlightOfTheFatGirl on all your style pics!!!

Point Zero Curvy – Date Night

It’s time for the third, and final instalment of my Point Zero Curvy Mix and Match series!

I’ve taken 5 pieces from the new Point Zero Curvy line, and styled and remixed three looks in three days, one for work, weekend, and of course, today’s look — date night!!!

In case you hadn’t already noticed in part 1 and part 2 of this series, I’m obsessed with this faux-leather jacket!

It’s without question, the most versatile piece in my closet right now, and whether it’s for work, on the weekend, or draped over the shoulders, out on a date, there is so much style packed into this one jacket, that it works with just about every look!

I’ve paired it with two pieces you may also recognize from the last two posts — these awesome, black shimmery pants that I wore in yesterday’s weekend post

And this gorgeous embellished knit top, which I wore tucked in to my skirt, in Wednesday’s work look

What you didn’t see on Wednesday, was the stunning back of this top! I was saving it for date night, because, it’s always fun to show a little skin, especially in such an unexpected way!

And while you can wear it zipped all the way down, I just love the sexy little peek-a-boo effect when left unzipped… Not to mention, it shows off the booty while remaining elegant and refined! Umm… #Winning!!!

With some cute accessories that pick up on the beautiful gunmetal embellishments on the top…

And my favourite black patent, not-too-high-heeled pumps, I’m all set for, dinner, drinks, and maybe a little dancing?

It can be hard to imagine pieces in your wardrobe being dual, or even triple-purpose sometimes. We get so used to wearing outfits, well — as outfits (if that makes any sense), and we forget that when we have quality garments, with fabulous texture, detail, and bold styling, like the Point Zero Curvy collection, mixing and matching becomes a snap!

This concludes my three part series, but you can shop the Point Zero Curvy line at pointzero.ca or point-zero.com for international customers, as well as in store at retailers such as SexyPlus Clothing, in Mississauga, Ontario.

Some items have not been released yet, so keep your eyes open, and I’ll be sure to post links here, once they are!

Don’t forget to follow Point Zero on Facebook and Instagram @pointzeroclothing, and on their new Insta, just for us plus size babes, @pointzerocurvy, to keep up to date on their latest collections and promotions!

In Stylzoo

Every year I get really excited about fall fashion — the layering, the boots,  the rich, deep colours, and did I mention the layering?

Navy blue will forever be one of my favourite fall shades. It offers all the benefits of wearing black (and no, I’m not talking “flattering,” I’m talking versatility), while actually bringing a little colour to the table.

This navy wrap dress from Stylzoo is total perfection! It hugs my curves beautifully, and I’m seriously feeling the sexy V neckline!

I paired it with a this super chic, longline blazer from Penningtons…

And threw on my trusty, grey combat boots, to complete my look’s military-meets-90s-grunge inspired attitude.

I decided to be bold and pick up on the tones in the lining of my boots, and accessorize with my emerald green Kate Spade Clutch, silver and pastel blue earrings, and my most daring lippie yet, a deep teal/green shade called Dr. M, from ColourPop Cosmetics!

I love how refreshing the mix of classic and edgier elements turned out to be!

Armed with great pieces like my Stylzoo wrap dress, and adventurous lipstick shades like this one, I am definitely fall fashion ready!

Keeping Up With The Penningtons

It’s been a minute since I’ve given you an update on the goings-on over on The Penningtons Blog

In one post, I held a vote on which Penningtons look I would sport on my flight to Haiti!

And in my next post, I showed you that #1 was the undisputed pick for flying in style and comfort!

But don’t think that #2, and 3 didn’t get to see Haiti’s sunny shores…

Vacays can’t last forever, unfortunately, and it’s always tough to get back into the work grind afterwards, but when your job involves writing a post about your life, your passion (duhhh, cheesecake — I mean blogging!!!), and how you got there, coming home doesn’t seem so bad!

So be sure to head over and read up on what’s been happening with me on The Penningtons Blog, and don’t forget to check in just about every week to keep up!

A Tale Of Interspecies Love

I’m telling you right now — this faux-fur MBLM vest from Penningtons is life itself.

It doesn’t even require an intro. It is the intro. It also happens to be the body, and the conclusion, because it’s… Just. That. Good.

It looks like the product of one night of passion between a pheasant and a llamaa (which, in case you were wondering, is as fabulous as it is impossible).

It is, without a doubt, one of my most prized pieces this season!

I’ve paired it with these amazing ripped jeans and thee most perfect black tee ever, both from Penningtons as well.

To top off the look, some sexy heels and silver bling, and of course, a great pair of specs from Zenni Optical!

I will definitely be staying chic and keeping cozy in my faux-llamapheasant vest allllll fallllll lonnnnng, but I must admit I’ll be wondering… What came first, the llamapheasant, or the egg???

French Curves: BOYISH

As usual, due to unforeseen circumstances (let’s face it, I’d prolly still be late even if the circumstances were foreseen), I’m a little late with this post!

By now, most of you know that the 16th (errr… 21st?) of every month means it’s time for the French Curves Challenge – an outfit photo challenge with the French touch, created by the fabulous, Vanoue, of The Curvy and Curly Closet!

The theme this month: BOYISH!!!

As always, an English translation will follow, so if French isn’t your forte, just scroll on down!

Comme d’habitude, en raison de circonstances imprévues (avouons-le, je serais probablement quand même en retard même si les circonstances étaient prévus), je suis un peu en retard !

Aujourd’hui, la plupart d’entre vous savent que le 16 (euh … Le 21

I love the androgynous look. I love how it messes with people’s preconceived notions and blurs the lines of gender. So this month’s “boyish” theme captivated me instantly!
I feel really sexy and strong when I wear masculine looking clothing.
However, I like to throw a few feminine touches into the mix too, just to mess with people!

So, for my boyish look, I chose my fave pair of overalls, from Addition Elle, a super cute alien head crop top from Chubby Cartwheels, with a great jean jacket with French terry sleeves from Penningtons.
For accessories, my pretty, pointy Coach loafers in a neutral colour, a very chic little clutch, and some gold bling.

I loved my look so much that it made me want to show off mah belly, for no other reason than the fact that I felt good in my skin in this outfit!

Be sure to check out the awesomely boyish looks of all the other French Curvettes here, as well as on Facebook, and Instagram too!!! Don’t forget to use the hashtags #FrenchCurvesOOTD and #FlightOfTheFatGirl!!!

Thankful For Plaid

It’s officially thanksgiving weekend and I’ve been trying to get this post out all week, I swear!!!

First, the day I was supposed to do my shoot, my bestie gave birth to a beautiful baby boy (Yay!!!) annnd then I dropped my phone in the bathtub while attempting to shave my legs and binge watch Vampire Diaries at the same time (Damn you, Damon!!!). So, just add those to my list of excuses for why I don’t get posts out on time… *sigh*

Aaaaanyway, I’m super excited to finally show off this fabulous, pixelated plaid, bodycon from Toronto based, Voluptuous Clothing!!! I first saw it, worn to perfection by the stunning Fluvia Lacerda, and featured on the cover of the Fall Fashion issue of DARE Mag and fell in love! It’s the absolute perfect autumn dress, with a classic, curve hugging silhouette and this fall’s hot plaid trend, which I just can’t get enough of!
