Extra Extra, Read All About It

I’ve been holding back, but I’m so excited to finally announce to all of you that the Montreal Gazette has done a story on me and my blog!!! Aaaaahhh!!! So crazy!!! Check it out online, or, to my fellow Montrealers, coming up in the Extra section if this Weekend’s paper!!!

I feel so honoured and excited – can’t stop smiling!!! What a fabulous way to celebrate my one year blogiversary!!!

A HUGE thank you to Danielle, for this opportunity, to Fatima, the author of the article, and to Allen, who braved a nasty cold and made it out to do the shoot like a champ!!!

I also have some pics of my own, because I know you’ll all be wondering what I’m wearing!!!

Here I am, ready for my close-up, in my new fave tuxedo blazer and boyfriend jeans from Penningtons, paired with a fab, mauve, sleeveless blouse from Addition Elle, blue suede, alligator textured flats from Aldo, and thee most amazing Ted Baker, springbok clutch that I scooped up thanks to the closet sale of fellow plus size blogger babe, and friend, Thera of Cloud14+ (who’s taste, might I add, is impeccable!).

Feeling Voluptuous

It’s always so much fun when you love an online store and you finally get the opportunity to visit one of its locations in person!

So you can imagine how cool it was popping into Voluptuous Clothing while I was in Toronto recently, and having the privilege of meeting the VoluotuousClothing.com CEO, Angela, who just happens to be a fabulous, sky-high heel wearing lady whom you just can’t help but admire!

I had ordered a cute, plaid bodycon dress from Voluptuous not too long ago, which I’m sure many of you will remember from my blog post, and I adored it so much that I knew I couldn’t leave the store empty handed!

I fell in love with this super chic, black & white knit, BB Dakota dress as soon as I saw it!

With its classic pattern and weighty fabric, wearing it feels like pure luxury!
It’s literally so comfortable I could have worn it to bed as pyjamas, and gotten up and kept on wearing it again the next day!

All lazy girl jokes aside, everything about this dress says class and sophistication. I love the way it hugs my curves, yet leaves enough to the imagination to work for any occasion.

I’ve added a great belt, nude flats, and a fancy, fringed kimono from Ashley Stewart, topped off with a handcrafted, beaded necklace, a sassy ring, and the perfect faux fur clutch from Aldo, for a chic look with an elegant playful touch that combines class and comfort, effortlessly.

Crimped Hair And Side Belly

I really had a blast while I was away over the weekend. I shopped, ate good food, took in some sights, but most excitingly of all – I attended Big Deal Toronto (an amazing event, which I talked about about in my last post).

For this special occasion, I decided to take my new, luxurious, cream coloured shawl collar coat from Forever 21+ out on the town!

This coat is truly a showstopper, garnering compliments from hotel staff and fellow fashion bloggers, alike.

I paired it with the coolest ever, Lot18 denim overalls from Addition Elle, ivory high neck crop top from Girl With Curves, and cute, pale rose flats from Aldo for a casual, chic look that was perfect for a day of shopping and chatting with some of the most stylish plus size fashionistas I know!!!

I’ve got to mention though – this particular crop top look was quite the risk for me! I wore crop tops all summer long and fell in love, but I had never styled one quite like this – exposing so much of my “vulnerability” (AKA fat rolls… Haha!).

See, some girls have side boob… And others, like me, well… We have side belly!!!

A few years ago I probably would have gasped in horror at the idea of going out in public like this; and I admit, I wasn’t 100% comfortable at first; but as I stood outside and posed for pics I felt confident and beautiful as I bared my love handles in all their fleshy glory!

Crimped hair and few pretty accessories, like midi rings, and these fabulous, front/back faux pearl earrings from Forever 21 topped off this very playful look to perfection.

Toronto Style

So, as most of you know, I spent the weekend out of town to attend Big Deal Toronto, blogger closet sale, and body positive gathering of the plus size community, organized by blogger, Karen Ward (Curvy Canadian), owner of Your Big Sister’s Closet.

I also got the chance to meet up with some of my lovely blogger friends, as well as meet some new beautiful, blogging babes!!! I managed to do a little shopping too!

I set out for my first retail adventure on Saturday in my fave new “Addicted to BLACK” tank top from Addition Elle, which couldn’t be more true!

My 2014 New Years resolution was to wear more colour, just to put things into perspective a little, so you can imagine I have a bit of a love affair with black; and with it being everywhere this fall, I definitely won’t be kicking the habit anytime soon!

I paired it with a great pair of jeans, my vintage Burberry trench & scarf, and my favourite thing to put on my feet right now (besides peppermint foot lotion – OMG I love that stuff), my thigh high boots from SexyPlus!

With my Louis in hand, I was ready to tackle the city, but not before making friends with a pigeon… Heheee!

Stay tuned for a couple more posts this week featuring what I wore to the event, what I bought there, as well as a fab new dress from Voluptuous Clothing, that I just couldn’t live without!!!

PS. This shoot was not without risk! Pigeons poop… A LOT! Luckily I didn’t get hit, but it was a close one!

Keeping Cool In A Cape

Capes are a super hot trend this fall, and it’s not hard to see why. They’re comfortable, easy to wear, and come on! They’re capes (!!!), pretty much the coolest articles of clothing any human being can own!!!

I picked up this fabulous geo print cape from Zelie For She over the summer, and I’ve been saving it for the perfect autumn weather like we had over the weekend here in Montreal!

Since it’s a cotton cape, it works equally well over a cami, in lieu of a blazer in warmer weather; but my favorite way to wear it is over a cozy, long sleeved top, like this alligator textured sweater, when it is slightly cooler out.

It’s the perfect piece for when it’s just cool enough outside to need something to cover your shoulders, but not cold enough to need a coat.

And the print is EVERYTHING!!!

Paired with some light blue jeggings, black patent pumps for a touch of glam, a stunning, handcrafted African cuff bracelet by La Caverne De Djénéba, and a great pair of sunnies from Forever 21, my cape looked fab and caught the attention of everyone in sight!

Thankful For Plaid

It’s officially thanksgiving weekend and I’ve been trying to get this post out all week, I swear!!!

First, the day I was supposed to do my shoot, my bestie gave birth to a beautiful baby boy (Yay!!!) annnd then I dropped my phone in the bathtub while attempting to shave my legs and binge watch Vampire Diaries at the same time (Damn you, Damon!!!). So, just add those to my list of excuses for why I don’t get posts out on time… *sigh*

Aaaaanyway, I’m super excited to finally show off this fabulous, pixelated plaid, bodycon from Toronto based, Voluptuous Clothing!!! I first saw it, worn to perfection by the stunning Fluvia Lacerda, and featured on the cover of the Fall Fashion issue of DARE Mag and fell in love! It’s the absolute perfect autumn dress, with a classic, curve hugging silhouette and this fall’s hot plaid trend, which I just can’t get enough of!

I’ve paired it with these incredibly cool, wide calf, thigh high boots from SexyPlus Clothing (Yasss!!!), another Canadian owned business (Whoop whoop!!!) and this stunning leather and bronze, handcrafted, African statement necklace, by Montreal Jewelry Designer, Djénéba Daou, for a chic fall look that works for anything from work, to turkey dinner with the fam!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, boos!!!

Flight Of The Sometimes Glam Fat Girl

This week, I had the most delightful meet up with a fellow plus size blogger buddy of mine, the beautiful Crystal Coons of Sometimes Glamthee blog for curvy fashion enthusiasts, and DIY, jewel adorned shoe lovers everywhere!!!

Crystal was back here, in her hometown of Montreal, visiting all the way from Phoenix, and had the amazing idea to meet up for a photo shoot; but this was no ordinary photo shoot!

She came up with the idea and the theme of this post: to go out shopping and dress each other up! How fun is that!? No, but seriously though!?

And since we have such different styles, her being a self proclaimed princess, and me having a bit more of an edge, it was really cool to both get dressed up and style one another in each other’s own signature looks!!!

We share a love, Mme. Coons and I, a love for Addition Elle… Haha! So our destination wasn’t hard to decide on! A quick shot of our OsOTD (apparently I’m HILARIOUS) and it was on like Donkey Kong!

I wanted to get my Sometimes Glam(orous) gal pal into something a little more street than what she’s used to!

So I went with these amazing Lot18 patchwork boyfriend jeans with plaid detail (I need these is my life, BTW), a funky, sequin embellished top, and the absolute coolest varsity bomber!

Not only did she rock the hell out of the look, but she landed that jump with a lot more grace than I could have… (Hashtag FatGirlProblems… *sigh*).

Next, up, Crystal’s picks for me! I’m loving the look she chose for me! It so perfectly reflected her style. Preppy and sweet, with a great mix if textures, and just a hint of edginess to work perfectly with my gold chain!!!

I loved the pretty, feminine silhouette of the Michel Studio, textured skirt, and faux leather cardigan, with the delicate mauve cami. Such a perfect ensemble!

It was a blast collaborating with a fellow blogger, and to share ideas as well as lots of giggles! I can’t wait till the next time Crystal is in town so we can get together to work on another shoot again! Thank you so much to her lovely sister for being our photographer and, to the fabulous staff at Addition Elle Fairview Pointe-Claire for letting us play!
