Just One Of Those Days

Just One Of Those Days

Well, I spent my entire Thursday running around taking care of other people. It started with the usual routine – I got my middle two ready for school, lunches packed and out the door to the bus; after which I got my husband off to work, then my oldest to school, all while toting my three-year-old around like a puppy in pajamas.

Lately I haven’t had to do as much back and forth-ing, but today everything was disorganized and I had loaded way too many plans into the few hours that I had to myself (to myself, by the way, meaning me and my youngest rugrat). I knew from the start it was going to be just one of those days.

I won’t get into the details of my afternoon, but I will say that it was mostly spent in the car, making sure everyone else’s needs were met. Once I finally made it home, I decided, what better way to relax after a long day than to paint my toenails!? With 4 kids and a husband to take care of, the small pleasures in life become of far greater importance.

So for the fifteen minutes between homework time and cooking dinner, that is exactly what I did. I sat back, (more like hunched over with the waistband of my jeans digging into my abdomen) relaxed, and painted my toenails fluorescent pink. Before the polish had a chance to dry and someone inevitably smeared me with snot, spaghetti sauce or both, (quite frankly, it was a small miracle that I wasn’t already covered in some sort of child-produced ooze) I figured I’d snap my pictures – better late than never, right?

Jeans, top – Addition Elle
Earrings, bracelet – local markets in Haiti
Nail polish – my 11 year old daughter’s junk drawer (win)
Shoes – what shoes?
